Education

Friends of Sonoita Creek (FOSC) aims to educate the public about the importance of the watershed to the community and its diverse animal and plant populations. Our educational activities include hosting events which inform the community on forces impacting our entire watershed, attend fairs and festival with info and interactive displays relating to the watershed, sponsor guided nature walks and offer Healthy Water educational program for area students.

FOSC focuses on our watershed, with its diverse animal and plant populations, several sources of water, and the people who live in the Sonoita Creek watershed. Our mission is to educate anyone interested in learning about the watershed, its past, present, and the concerns about the future.

The goal of the outdoor education team is to offer participants an opportunity to explore and learn about the natural history of the watershed. To that end, FOSC has a Nature Walk Series in Partnership with Borderlands Restoration Network and the Santa Cruz chapter of the Arizona Native Plant Society to offer nature walks in the Sonoita Creek watershed. FOSC also offers beginning bird walks in the town of Patagonia several times a year.

Our outdoor education team is looking for people who would be willing to share their expertise for our nature walk series.
